What is Neosporin?

Neosporin is an antibiotic cream that is given by dermatologists to patients suffering from bacterial infections. Each pack has 5 grams of Bacitracin 400 IU, Neomycin 3400 IU, and Polymyxin B 5000 IU in combination. It helps in reducing the itching and redness caused by bacterial infection.

The cream is applied externally and is not meant for use on open wounds. It works by stopping the action of bacteria on the skin leading to a reduction in bacteria growth. A thin layer of the cream is effective for treating skin with a heavy bacterial infection.
