What is infertility?
Infertility is an inability when a woman is unable to conceive a pregnancy. In women, infertility is caused by factors affecting female reproductive organs and hormonal imbalances. In men, infertility can be caused by a lower sperm count.
There are two types of infertility:
- Primary infertility: It is a condition where a couple has never been able to conceive a child.

How a woman can improve fertility if they are unable to conceive?

- Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight can severely impact fertility. Aim for a healthy body weight by eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly. Eating fatty food can cause a reduction in fertility in both men and women
- Eat a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can improve fertility. Avoiding processed and sugary foods including soda.
- Exercise regularly: Regular physical activity can improve fertility, but be sure to avoid over-exercising, which can actually decrease fertility.
- Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption: Both smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can decrease fertility. If you smoke, try to quit, and if you drink alcohol, do so in moderation.
- Reducing stress: Chronic stress can affect fertility. Try to manage stress through relaxation techniques such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing.
- Consider fertility treatments: If you have been trying to get pregnant for a while without success, you may want to consider fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Talk to a healthcare provider to determine the best course of action for you.
- Get plenty of sleep: Getting enough sleep is important for overall health and can also improve fertility. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night.
- Take folic acid: Folic acid can improve fertility and reduce the risk of birth defects. Try to include at least 400 mg of folic acid a day, either through your diet or supplements. Doctors include Hcg Shots, Gonadotropins like r-FSh, and Menotropins. These are prescribed before conceiving it nourishes the egg for fertilization and prepare a healthy environment (stimulation) for the mother to conceive that is caused by a lack of hormones. All these products are part of IVF treatment.
- Many prescriptions have Folic acid as a health supplement to support pregnancy.
